Apple’s March Showdown: Big Week, Big Surprises

Apple fans are on the edge of their seats, because Tim Cook has set the stage for a “big week” of product announcements, and the company has been moving fast. The iPhone 17e is out, with its familiar MagSafe and a new A19 chip, but the MagSafe still falls short on fast charging and the A19 comes in a binned version. Alongside that, the 8th‑generation iPad Air has appeared, looking the same on the outside but sporting new internals. It’s just the start of the week, and Apple has already set the tone.

Leaks and inside sources tell us that the lineup is far from finished. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said we should see at least five new products by midweek, spread over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. That leaves a minimum of three more reveals in the next two days, and the potential for even more.

Today’s big surprise was the omission of a baseline iPad. Fans had expected a 12th‑generation iPad to debut alongside the Air. Rumors say it will be a work‑manlike refresh with an A19 chip, Apple Intelligence, and a few minor spec tweaks. The question is: why push it back? Maybe Apple has something bigger in mind, but a laminated screen seems unlikely. Still, it’s something to keep an eye on.

The headline of the week, though, will likely be Apple’s first budget MacBook. Gurman points out that this is the only product that will look noticeably new, with a fresh aluminum chassis and a palette of fun finishes. The event’s invitation features the Apple logo in yellow, green, and blue, hinting that those colors will soon adorn the machine. The real headline, however, is the price. Spoiler alert: it might not be as cheap as many hope.

But this is just the beginning. Apple plans to release new MacBook Airs powered by the M5 chip, new MacBook Pros with the M5 Pro and M5 Max, and perhaps a new Mac Studio. If they’re lucky, a new Studio Display could join the lineup as well.

The week is still in its early stages, and Apple has more to reveal. At least three more products will drop by Wednesday, and there could be up to six. To keep up with the buzz, bookmark the March announcements live blog—it’s going to be a wild ride.

And here’s the hot take: Apple’s rumored budget MacBook might actually be a strategic misstep, focusing on design flair over genuine affordability. We will have to wait and see!!!
